Happy New Year!

2009newyearSo it’s 2009? It goes by faster every year and 2008 was no exception. There was a lot that happened in 2008 both good and bad; but I think for the most part it was a learning experience for most younger and even some older agents. I especially learned a lot as a young agent about how the market moves and how large of an impact certain factors have on the long term stability of the housing market.

2008 was an especcially great year for technology in real estate with so many forms of technology coming to the forefront of the industry like video, detailed web applications and more social networks than we can count and I guess saying “better late then never” kind of applies to some of the technology we have seen as well.

Well, it’s 2009 and I hope everyone takes this chance to “re-align” and grasp this new “RE.net” industry and run with it. There is so much opportunity for everyone in this new year I wish everyone the best.

Have a great year,
Matt Rains

  1. Matt, Happy New Year to you and Annie. You are right 2008 was a great learning year for new and old. I believe that technology is the great equalizer in Real Estate. The agents with many years experience might lose listings to a newer agent, with technology behind them. I see the emerging market, as one that is open to all. Yes, the agents with large past client list will do fine, but I believe they will have a harder time trying to get new business, if they do not jump on the technology bandwagon. Retech blog, is a the first place they should go to.
